Search and sharing
Search engines and shared links (in texts, email, and social media) show a title, a description, and often a picture. You choose these for the whole site, for each page, and for each blog post.
A page
Select a page under Pages, then open the Page tab in the panel.
Under Page settings:
- Title: shown in the browser tab and in search results.
- Address: on pages you made, change the page’s address and select Change. Links to the page update, and the old address sends visitors to the new one. Use letters, numbers, and dashes.
Under Search & sharing:
- Description: a sentence or two about the page, shown under the title in search results and shared links. The counter shows when it’s getting too long (160 characters). On the home page, leave it blank to use the site description.
- Search title (optional): a different title just for search. Leave it blank to use the one shown in the field. Keep it under 60 characters so it isn’t cut off.
- Share image: the picture shown when the page is shared. Leave it blank to use the first photo on the page.
- Hide this page from search engines: keeps the page out of search results. People with the link can still open it.
The preview shows how the page will look. Switch between Google and Shared link.
Advanced: meta tags adds your own meta tags to this page.
The whole site
Open the Site tab in the panel and scroll to Search & sharing.
Search health
At the top, a summary shows Ready for search, or how many things to fix, plus tips. The list points out things like a missing site name or description, pages with no description, long search titles, pages that share the same title, and images that need a description. Select a page’s item to open that page. Select Show all to see the whole list.
Site details
- Site name: your church’s name. It’s part of every page title.
- Tagline: added to your home page’s title in search, like “A church in Austin, TX”. The hint shows the full title.
- Description: used by any page that doesn’t have its own.
- Share image: shown when a page without a photo is shared. Leave it blank to use your menu logo.
- Browser tab icon: a square image, at least 180 × 180.
- Language: the language your site is written in.

Image descriptions (alt text)
An image description tells people using screen readers, and search engines, what’s in a photo. Add one under Image description (alt text) in the Content tab of a Hero, Image, or Image + text section. Leave it blank if the image is only decoration.
In a Gallery, each photo has a description box under its caption. Leave it blank to use the caption.
Images without a description show up in the search health list.
