Set up a device
Setting up a device takes a couple of minutes. You’ll need the Device code from the dashboard.
Get your device code
In the dashboard, go to Organization → Device and select Copy device code. It’s also at the top of Check-in → Settings. See Devices.
Install the Check-in Portal
Install the Check-in Portal from the App Store on the iPad or iPhone. On the home screen its icon is labelled Check-in. Open it.
Allow access
The app asks for access to the things it needs, like the camera (to scan passes) and the local network (to find your printer). Allow each one.
Enter the device code
On Let’s Get Started, enter the 10-digit code. If you see Code Not Found, check the code in the dashboard and try again.
Name the device
Give it a name you’ll recognize in the dashboard, like “Lobby kiosk 1” or “Nursery desk”.
Choose where it’s located
Where will this device be located?
- Check-in: for kids check-in. Then pick the check-in location (the check-in group) it serves.
- Connect: for taking attendance at a connect. Then pick the connect. See Connect attendance.
Choose how it’s used
What will this device be used as?
- Self Service: a kiosk families use themselves.
- Admin: a desk your team runs.
Set up the printer
Pick the label printer this device prints to, choose the paper, and do a test print. Or select Skip Printer Setup and do it later. See Printers and labels.
The device now shows in the dashboard under Organization → Device and Check-in → Settings, with when it was last used.
More than one organization
One device can serve more than one organization, but each organization can only be added once. If you enter a code for an organization the device already has, you’ll see Already Added with an option to switch to it.
If a device is disabled
If someone turns a device off in the dashboard, the app shows Device Disabled with the device’s name. Ask your admin to turn it back on, then select Check Again. You can also Switch Organization from that screen.
