Scanners
Use a Bluetooth barcode scanner to scan passes and check-out tags faster.
Devices with a camera can scan passes on their own. A Bluetooth barcode scanner makes it quicker, especially on a busy self-service kiosk or at check-out. It also lets a device without a usable camera scan codes.
Pair the scanner
Pair it in the iPad’s Settings
Open the iPad’s Settings → Bluetooth and pair the scanner. Scanners connect as a keyboard.
Set it to send a return
Configure the scanner to send a carriage return (Enter) after each scan. Your scanner’s manual has a code to scan for this.
Test it in the Check-in Portal
Open Settings → Scanner. It shows whether a keyboard is Detected. Select Test Scan and scan any barcode.
- Scan Received: it ended with a return, so it’s set up correctly.
- No Return Detected: it read the code but didn’t send a return. Set it to send one.
- No scanner detected: pair it in the iPad’s Bluetooth settings first.
Once it’s working, families can scan their check-in pass at the kiosk, and your team can scan pick-up passes and check-out tags at the desk.
A scanner can also open admin settings on a kiosk: scan the Admin access code from an admin device.
